Tanks A Lot

I’ve been struggling trying to figure out what to make a blog post about this week. It’s part of my fairly nebulous ‘become a real writer’ plan to write a blog post a week and here I was set to fail in week two. The more I thought about it though, the more I realized why should this blog only be about writing and writing related stuff? I mean, it’s my blog after all. I make the rules! So the rule now is that there are no rules! So here you are, at the first inaugural post about random crap that interests me. This week’s edition is aquariums! I took up...

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now, and this week seemed like a golden opportunity because the second Wachowski sibling of the famed Hollywood pair came out as transgender. The Matrix is a movie near and dear to my teen-in-the-90’s heart. It’s the kind of gritty cyberpunk that I adore with deep-layered messages that people are still sorting out nearly fifteen years later, myself included. I’m not just here to talk about how awesome the Matrix is though, I’m here to talk about one of the secondary characters, and a rumor about the original...

Guest Post: Daniel Bensen

If you ever wanted to know the how something as amazing and sophisticated as flight evolved, read on!   How Dinosaurs can fix the Evolution of Flight by Daniel Bensen When I pitched my “How Dinosaurs can fix your…” series of essays to the good people of the Codex writers’ forum, I expected (and mostly got) requests for writerly advice such as “How Dinosaurs can fix your Routine” or...

Author Interview: Lawrence M. Schoen

It’s been a while since I’ve had an author stop by for an interview, so I thought I’d start 2016 off right. Please welcome to my little corner of the internet, Lawrence M. Schoen. 2015 In Review

First, Happy New Year! I’m not much of a resolution maker, mostly because that sort of motivation really doesn’t work for me. Instead, I thought I’d make a ‘this is what I did last year’ post to keep myself accountable for 2016. Submission statistics are thanks to The Submission Grinder which is a fabulous tool for obsessively keeping track of your stories and submissions, if you’re into that, which clearly I am. 2015 Submissions: 89 Acceptances: 2 Form Rejections: 55 Personal Rejections: 17 Compared to 2014 Submissions: 40 Acceptances: 3 Form Rejections:...
